Inspiring young millennials to go beyond ‘snap-worthy’ adventures

Human Nature is teaming up with De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde for the 1st Pinay & Proud Summit. Themed “Your Goodness Shines”, the event will be held at Benilde’s School of Design and Arts Theater on October 19.

The summit is part of Human Nature’s longstanding campaign to highlight the lifework of Filipino women from all walks of life. This year, Pinay & Proud aims to inspire young people to serve the least while pursuing excellence.

Abi Mapua-Cabanilla, Director of Benilde’s Hub of Innovation For Inclusion (HiFi), shares that Pinay & Proud resonates with many of Benilde’s institutional thrusts of academic excellence that contributes to inclusive nation building. Benilde believes that the school is the most logical place to raise compassionate, enlightened, and empowered citizens who shall become powerful agents for social change.

HiFi is a testimony of Benilde’s commitment for the academe to create potent social impact.  HiFi is an innovation space for social good.  We believe in writing a new narrative and system of development that will work towards a triple bottom line of people, planet, and profit.

Ten women who have made significant contributions in the fields of environmental protection, poverty alleviation and education will be honored at the Summit.

Pinay & Proud honorees for 2016 include outstanding public school teacher Sabrina Ongkiko, Hindy Weber and Melanie Teng-Go of Holy Carabao Holistic Farms, Ani Rosa Almario, Vice President of Adarna House and Co-founder of Raya School; Anya Lim, Co-Founder of Anthill Fabric Gallery; International Olympic Committee member MikeeCojuangco-Jaworski; Reese Fernandez-Ruiz, Co-Founder of Rags2Riches and award-winning journalist Kara David of GMA Network. Two students from the School of Experiential and Entrepreneurial Development (SEED), Gabrielle Rabino & Rinalyn Pagao will also be honored at the event. The two will be the first public school students in Bulacan to earn a scholarship at the prestigious ESSEC Business School in Singapore and France.

The country’s only all-female string quartet in the Philippines since 1985, the Athenaeum String Quartet, will be performing at the event. The Pinay & Proud Summit is supported by the Philippine Commission on Women. The Pinay & Proud Summit is proudly presented by MyPhone, the first and leading Filipino mobile brand; and PHAR in partnerships with Village Pipol and The Manila Times.
