One of the key speakers for the first day of the Tourism and Hospitality Tech Summit and Expo was Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, who discussed the current state of Philippine tourism and how the developments in technology helped the industry.

According to Puyat, technological development has revolutionized tourism, which in turn offered people more opportunities and possibilities.

“Today’s technology has given us the freedom to choose, plan, explore, and travel more conveniently in the most cost-effective way possible,” Romulo-Puyat said.

Secretary Puyat shared the recent developments in Philippine tourism

She said it has given birth to ‘do-it-yourself travelers’ as traveling can now be done as easy as 1-2-3. “Likely so, traveling can be as easy as one, plan; two, manage; and three, book online. With just a click away, we can just plan a trip,” Puyat added.

But aside from providing an avenue for travelers, Puyat highlighted the importance of technology in promoting the country’s tourism and raising awareness to preserve tourist attractions. She encouraged the delegates to become an active part in promoting and sustaining Philippine tourism.

“We invite all of you here to be our partners as we continue to make the Philippines one of the most fun and must experienced destination in the world. Together, let us ensure that generations from now, our children’s children’s children will still say, it’s more fun in the Philippines,” Puyat said.

The Tourism and Hospitality Tech Summit and Expo 2018 was hosted by Enderun Colleges, which offers courses specializing in the fields of international hospitality management, entrepreneurship, and business administration.
