The first of its kind: TAG Heuer launches Modular 45
Swiss Made. These words are usually affixed to high-quality mechanical chronographs. No connected watch (also known as a smart watch) has gained this distinction, due in large part to Swiss watchmakers not actively making them… until today.
Say hello to the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45.
TRUE LUXURY. Apple may have its Apple Watch Series 2 and Samsung may have its upcoming Gear S3, but they’re not quite in the same boat as TAG Heuer’s Connected Modular 45.
The Modular 45 is a true frontrunner, the first luxury connected watch to bear the words Swiss Made. It’s no secret that any watch that’s stamped Swiss Made is of the highest quality. These words are synonymous with the highest of standards, as with any of TAG Heuer’s luxury products.

Jean-Claude Biver, TAG Heuer CEO and President of the LVMH Watch Division, described the Modular 45 as “innovative, unique and distinctive” during its global launch in Brunnen, Switzerland yesterday, done at the same time as the launch in San Francisco, California and here in Manila, Philippines.
“This… watch is at the forefront of the latest technologies available in Silicon Valley and, at the same time, a genuine Swiss watch, bearing the Swiss Made label. It is the incarnation of our leading position with luxury connected watch and with this high level of technology,” he added.
A combination of the past and the future available today
Made in collaboration with Google and Intel, TAG Heuer took their techniques and attention to even the smallest of details and have put it into the Modular 45. It’s an all-metal connected watch, something that’s rare for others in the same category. It’s water-resistant to 50 meters, has its own GPS, and is enabled for near-field communications (NFC).
AMBIENT MODE. The Modular 45 is, first and foremost, a time piece. It would be rendered useless if it only showed a black screen, wouldn’t it? This nifty feature, called Ambient Mode, ensures that you can still tell the time even if you’re not connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
The 45-mm Modular 45 sports a 287-ppi AMOLED display and packs a 410 mAH battery, rated for more than 25 hours of usage. It’s powered by a 1.6-Ghz Intel® Atom™ Z34XX series processor with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage.
Google has also powered it with Android Wear™ 2.0, the latest version of their wearable OS. Apart from overall improvements to the user experience and having access to the Play Store straight from the Modular 45, Android Wear also improved its compatibility with iOS devices.
Full-on modular
A true modular watch, the Modular 45 allows for near-endless customization. There are 11 designs to choose from in stores, with 46 more designs available online. That’s 57 designs already, and we haven’t even mentioned the 4000+ designs you can make yourself from the TAG Heuer Studio, or the 30 different watch dials you can choose from with a simple swipe of your finger!
You can also go the extra mile and buy extra lugs, straps, strap buckles, and even an analog module to go even deeper into the possibilities of the Modular 45.

Prices for the Modular 45 start at P81,999. There’s also a special offer for those willing to shell out more money online: You can get the Modular 45 with their prestigious COSC-certified chronograph, the Heuer 02T tourbillion, first made in the 1800s, for US$17,000 or approximately P855,0001 (excluding VAT).
The deluxe box set comes with an additional rubber strap, the Modular 45, and the Heuer 02T tourbillion in a magnificent presentation case with three drawers, complete with a desktop display stand to hold the watch and its charger.
