According to a report from CNN Philippines, Socioeconomic Planning Sec. Ernesto Pernia said the goal can be achieved thanks to the country’s untapped potential especially in manufacturing and tourism.
The National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) released a draft for the PDP 2017-2022 last Tuesday, January 10, giving the public a chance to scrutinize and give feedback or suggestions regarding the administration’s medium-term development plan.
This version of the PDP is divided into seven parts, with a total of 22 chapters, and stands on three “pillars”: Malasakit (Enhancing the Social Fabric), Pagbabago (Reducing Inequality in Economic Development Opportunities), and Kaunlaran (Increasing Potential Growth).
The PDP will translate AmBisyon Natin 2040, NEDA’s anchor for development until 2040, and the administration’s 10-point Socioeconomic Agenda into actual strategies, policies, programs, and activities.
While most the chapters are still available online for reading, comments and inputs were only accepted until midnight of January 15. NEDA plans to finalize the chapter write-ups and present them during their 3rd Plan Steering Committee Meeting scheduled for tomorrow, January 17.
