New World Makati Launches New Japanese Menu
New World Hotel Makati, with its newly appointed Japanese Chef de partie Jovel Doringo has recently launched its new Japanese menu offering at Cafe 1228.
A favourite among expats, Cafe 1228, New World Hotel’s buffet restaurant that features five interactive live-cooking stations as well as a full a la carte menu for all-day dining has seen a boost in its Japanese patrons as word has started to make rounds in the expats community about the restaurant’s first-rate upgrade on its Japanese menu.
The sushi platter, with its interplay of colors and flavours, articulates authentic Japanese distinction in every facet.
The expanded and enhanced menu that highlights Japanese favorites like Sushi, Tempura, Maki-roll, Tukemono and many others is made possible by Chef Jovel, who is at the helm of the Japanese kitchen crew. The skillful chef makes sure that each dish carries Japan’s unique culinary traditions, from the ingredients, to the preparation (Chef Jovel even uses his own authentic Japan knife), cooking, plating, and serving.
The Chef, fluent in Nihongo, even finds time to chat with some Japanese diners to share with them info about his masterpieces as they express their praises for his creations. And yes, true to their Japanese form and substance, the dishes are a feast for the senses – the fine presentation, the enticing aroma, the premium texture, the sound of every sip and chew, and the exceptional flavours. About the Chef
Chef Jovel in action
Chef Jovel has more than 19 years’ worth of experience in Japanese cuisine. Before joining New World Hotel, Chef Jovel was chef and manager at Koizumi Shouiji Inc. He specialized in the preparation of authentic Japanese menus and recipes, and creating nutritious and well-balanced meals for patrons with special dietary needs.
In addition to his native Filipino, Chef Jovel speaks English and Japanese fluently. Interestingly, the culinary master has a degree in Mechanical Production Engineering Technology from the Technological University of the Philippines. Indeed, the innately talented chef knows how to engineer projects from planning to execution, except that his culinary passion has led him to do all these in the kitchen, much to the delight of his satisfied patrons.
Cafe 1228 also offers Japanese special course meals. A reservation is required for the special customized preparation.
Aside from its Japanese menu, Cafe 1228 has also perked up its Desserts Station as it now offers a wider array of sweets selections perfect to cap off a satisfying meal.
