  • Ice Skating Rinks in Metro Manila
  • The Philippines may be a tropical country, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some winter activities here, particularly ice skating. The Philippines has sent many figure skaters to international competitions, with some even bringing home medals with them. Michael Christian Martinez is perhaps the best-known for winning the 2015 Asian Figure Skating Trophy championship and twice in the Triglav Trophy in Slovenia.

Where do you think Filipino skaters like Martinez honed their winning skills in ice skating? Here is a list of ice skating rinks in and around the metro where you can gracefully skate or playfully skid across the ice.

SM Skating Rink – Mall of Asia

The SM Skating Rink at the Mall of Asia has served as a training ground for many winter sport-athletes. With its Olympic-sized skating rink, this is where the country’s ice hockey team and figure skaters usually hold their practice sessions. SM Skating also offers lessons on ice skating and hockey.

Opened to the public just last year, Xrink is the country’s first and only synthetic ice skating rink, made of polyurethane and fiber glass. This eco-efficient skating rink lets you have the same enjoyment as you get when skating on real ice. The first Xrink was opened at the 3rd level of Robinsons Place Manila. For those residing in BGC, the Uptown Mall branch is located on the upper ground floor.

    SM Skating – Southmall

Those who live in Alabang and other areas south of the metro don’t need to go far. SM Southmall in Las Piñas also has a spacious skating rink for you to enjoy. SM Southmall is said to be the first go-to place of international figure skater Martinez to practice his sport when he was just starting.
