  • It’s hard to find a city in the world where a fast food joint doesn’t exist. It’s the best place to go to if you want a quick bite, especially if you’re running late for a meeting.

Fast food restaurants are also known for being really affordable compared to other restaurants in the Philippines, only beaten by hawker stands or carinderias.

Here’s a list of some of the most popular fast food restaurants in the Philippines:

    1. Jollibee

It’s hard to find a Filipino that doesn’t know who Jollibee is. It’s the country’s largest and most popular fast food chain, with over 750 stores in the Philippines and at least 80 outside the country. Their food is similar to McDonald’s but with a uniquely Filipino twist.

    2. Mang Inasal

Mang Inasal started out in 2003 in Iloilo as a stand-alone barbeque quick service restaurant, serving traditional Chicken Inasal with its pioneering “unlimited rice” concept. It has since been acquired by Jollibee Foods Corporation and now has over 450 stores in the country.

    3. Chowking

The country’s first Asian quick service restaurant, Chowking pioneered the concept of combining the Western concept of a fast food joint with Chinese cuisine. Also acquired by Jollibee Foods Corporation, Chowking has at least 300 branches as of 2011 and continues to be the country’s go-to restaurant for Chinese-style food.

    4. Greenwich Pizza

Greenwich Pizza started as an over-the-counter pizza store in the Greenhills Commercial Center. Known as “The Philippines’ Favorite Pizza Chain”, it’s the country’s largest pizza chain with at least one in every city in the country (their website only lists 62, but we know there’s more than that). They’re the country’s true Filipino pizza chain, serving the country since 1971.

    5. Tropical Hut

Tropical Hut may not be as well-known as Jollibee, but it’s certainly an institution for most Filipinos, especially the older generation. They’re known for serving burgers that rival those of McDonald’s and international brand Burger King, even with the success of Jollibee.

There are many more fast foot and quick service restaurants in the country, but these five dominate the scene.
