Good Morning Gotham: an exhibit by Marc Gaba
Artery Art Space is pleased to present a solo exhibit by Marc Gaba entitled “Good Morning Gotham”, from February 11 to March 4, 2017.
Acting upon a premise of political awareness according to the pretext of aesthetic beauty and sovereignty, “Good Morning Gotham” challenges the viewer to make the connection between time, power, conscience, and change, through the abstract signification of painting and the gesture of openness and possibility.
Marc Gaba’s works are transcripts of a new world order, where absolute power parallels the mass of flat-lined numbers, along with the socio-political disarray that it breeds, giving birth to a bold exigency over the notion of individual agency. Through his thoughtfully delineated impastoed marks, color strategies and composition, and a meticulous signature style that points to the artist’s conceptual approach to painting, Gaba’s works become unique impressions of fleeting existence, chance and agenda, responsibility and the poetic indifference to the march of the majority, in creative defiance against the sleep of reason today.
Marc Gaba has presented 12 solo shows since 2008. He has shown in numerous galleries that include Artery Art Space, Archivo 1984, Galleria Duemila, Art Informal, Silverlens, UP Vargas Museum, the Cultural Center of the Philippines, and at Mind Set Art Center in Taiwan curated by Patrick Flores.
