  • Reloading beep® card at convenience stores possible by year-end
  • Beep® cards are undeniably convenient. From being an MRT/LRT-only form of payment, you can now use them to pay for your rides with Citylink, HM Transport Airport Loop Bus, and BGC Bus, along with Froehlich P2P and RRCG P2P buses.

A UNIVERSAL PAYMENT CARD? From being an MRT/LRT-only form of payment, beep® card may soon find its way into convenience stores, groceries, and fast food chains… and it may happen sooner than you think. Image grabbed from beep card Facebook page

The only hassle: topping up your beep® card. However, even that might just become a thing of the past with AF Payments, Inc. looking to tap convenience stores for reloading.

AF Payments told GMA News Online that “before the year ends, a major convenience store chain will start implementing reloading and payment facilities via the beep card system.” They did not reveal who they’ve partnered with for reloading and payment, only saying that their reloading stations will increase to 200 before the end of 2016.

AF Payments is also looking into using beep cards to pay for toll fees at North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), after a successful implementation at the Manila-Cavite Express way (CAVITEX).

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Peter Maher, president of AF Payments, said tap-and-go terminals will also be available inside grocery stores and fast food chains before the end of 2016.
