Primer’s COVID-19 Daily Update: April 30, 2020
To keep you in the loop on the recent COVID-19 situation in the Philippines, Philippine Primer rounded up the latest updates you need to know:
Number of cases
As of 4 p.m. today the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 276 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country, bringing the total number of cases to 8,488.

DOH also reported 20 new recoveries and 10 new deaths resulting in a total of 1,043 recoveries and 568 mortalities.
16-day-old baby is Philippines’ youngest COVID-19 survivor
A 16-day-old baby is the youngest recorded COVID-19 survivor in the Philippines according to the DOH. In a Facebook post, the department has thanked the frontliners at the National Children’s Hospital for taking care of the baby for 11 days and successfully nursing him back to health.

“The DOH applauds our valiant healthcare team for this feat! We at the DOH commits to provide the needed health commodities and personal protective equipment as our health facilities accept patients of various ages,” the post said.
Taguig City opens second drive-thru testing site
The local government of Taguig City has opened a second drive-thru testing site at Bonifacio Global City following the launch of its groundbreaking COVID-19 drive-thru testing initiative at the Lakeshore Hall last week. The facility is set up at the Northeast Parking Area in front of Kidzania, beside CitiBank and IBM One World Place.

During the first day of testing in BGC, 10 suspect COVID-19 cases were tested. Each test took only about 5 minutes to finish according to Taguig City’s official Facebook page.
Supreme Court reschedules 2020 Bar exams to next year
After the release of the 2019 Bar Examinations results yesterday, the Supreme Court has announced that it will be postponing this year’s Bar exams to sometime in 2021 “in view of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country, as well as the social and economic disruption caused by the pandemic and the resulting enhanced community quarantine.”

The bulletin also said the Supreme Court En Banc decided that the next bar examinations will be held in Manila and in Cebu City.
