    The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) just announced a road closure in the Araneta-Aurora intersection in Sta. Mesa, Manila for seven consecutive nights starting August 15, Thursday.

    This is to give way to the launching of girder for the Skyway Stage 3 Project.

    In the announcement released by the MMDA last August 13, the intersection of Gregorio Araneta Ave. and Aurora Blvd. will not be passable to motorists from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

    Motorists are advised to take the following alternative routes:

    For light vehicles:

    1. From Shaw Boulevard/ V. Mapa, drive straight towards Magsaysay Blvd. to Santol Street, make a right turn at Palanza, Landargun or Bayani Road, and turn left at G. Araneta to destination and vice versa;

    2. Vehicles from Cubao going to Manila area may drive along Aurora Blvd., then turn right at Guirayan St., left at Palanza, make another left turn at Tomas Arguelles St. or Santol St. going to Magsaysay Blvd. to destination;

    Alternate route from Cubao to Magsaysay Blvd. via Guirayan, Palanza, and Tomas Arguelles St.

    3.  Vehicles coming from N. Domingo and Blumentritt may take F. Roman, H. Lozada St. and J. Ruiz St.;

    4. For vehicles coming from the North, drive along the C-3 Sgt. Rivera, then turn right at Bayani, Landargun and Palanza St. Make a left turn at Santol St., another left at Magsaysay Blvd., and take V. Mapa, Old Sta. Mesa to destination.

    Trucks route:

    1. From Quezon Avenue, E. Rodriguez Ave., drive straight towards España Blvd., then turn left onto Lacson Ave. heading straight towards Nagtahan to the destination (vice versa); or

    2. Take the Magsaysay Blvd. and turn right at V. Mapa to Shaw Blvd. to destination and vice versa.

    An average of 17,000 to 18,000 vehicles is expected to be affected by the said closure.

    The Skyway Stage 3 project, which is one of the key projects under the “Build, Build, Build” program, will connect Buendia to Balintawak. It is seen to reduce travel time for 15 to 20 minutes from the current 2 hours.
