Two new airports seen as a ‘possibility’ in the Philippines
In an effort to address the congestion at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), a possibility of having two new airports in the country is being studied, as per Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade.

These new airports were said to be located in Sangley in Cavite, and the other one in Bulacan. According to Sec. Tugade, the administration is currently studying this proposal as proposed by some of the countries’ billionaires. If the said proposal may not be feasible, they will decide on the best offer between Sangley or Bulacan by the third quarter of 2017, Tugade added.
The $50 billion Sangley Airport and seaport project proposal is from the All-Asia Resources and Reclamation Corp. (ARRC) including the Belle Corp, the high-end property developer of tycoon Henry Sy. It is targeted to be operational in 2022. OOn the other hand, San Miguel Corp. submitted an unsolicited proposal for a $10 billion airport in Bulacan that may be adjacent to Manila Bay. As per the PhilStar report, Tugade mentioned that there has been no formal submission for this proposal yet.
According to Tugade, they are also working on P74.56 billion rehabilitation for NAIA and the proposed expansion of the Clark International Airport in Pampanga.
