  • To keep you in the loop on the recent COVID-19 situation in the Philippines, Philippine Primer rounded up the latest updates you need to know:

    Number of cases

    As of 4 p.m. today, the Department of Health (DOH) has reported 104 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, raising the total number to 3,764. DOH also reported 11 additional recoveries and 14 new mortalities resulting in a total of 84 recoveries and 177 mortalities.

    Extended Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ)

    In order to prevent the further spreading of COVID-19 in the Philippines, President Rodrigo Duterte declared the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) on March 17, 2020, and was expected to end on April 12.

    Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) enforces 30-day grace oeriod for residential, commercial rent during ECQ

    DTI released MC No. 20-21, Series of 2020 granting a 30-day grace period for residential and commercial rent falling due within the ECQ period. Refusing to provide the grace period to lessees shall be penalized with imprisonment of not less than 2 months or a fine of not less than Php 10,000, or both.

    Civil Service Commission (CSC) extends filing of SALN until June 30

    The deadline of filing of Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Networth (SALN) has been extended from its original deadline of April 30 to June 30, 2020. SALN is a declaration of assets, liabilities, networth, business interests, and financial connections.

    DOH launches 24/7 telemedicine hotline

    Residents in the National Capital Region can call the 24/7 telemedicine hotline at 02-8424-1724 in addition to the DOH COVID-19 Hotlines.

    AirAsia cancels PH flights after PH extends ECQ

    Following the Philippine government’s directive of extending the enhanced community quarantine period in Luzon, AirAsia is canceling all domestic and international Z2 flights until April 30, 2020.

    Wearing facemask in public places is now mandatory in Quezon City

    Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte issued Executive Order No. 25, Series of 2020, ordering residents to wear any form of covering for the nose and mouth. City enforcers will first distribute masks to people who do not have one so they can comply with the order.

    No new COVID-19 case recorded in Baguio in more than a week

    Since March 31, Baguio has had no new confirmed COVID-19 case with the number staying at 14 comprised of 6 admitted in hospital, 7 recovered, and 1 death.
