  • The biggest gaming convention in the Philippines is back on its 6th year!

Gariath Concepts brings back the E-Sports and Gaming Summit (ESGS), a 3-day event happening from October 25 to 27, 2019 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.

This year, ESGS is embarking on a futuristic adventure with their cyberpunk theme, and for the first time ever, they are launching the official event persona of ESGS, Astra.

Astra is cosplayed by Awie De Guzman

Expect Astra to be an integral part of all future ESGS events as she takes attendees on a journey that changes from theme to theme every year.

ESGS 2019’s co-presenters PLDT and Smart will also bring one of the highlights of this year’s event—the Cyber City. This huge gaming hub gives attendees a chance to experience the hottest virtual reality games including Sniper Elite and Beat Saber.

Aside from gaming, there is quite a handful of things you can do at Cyber City. You can lounge around, recharge devices, print photo souvenirs, and possibly even bump into your favorite cosplayers and e-sports athletes, such as members of the Omega Team and SIBOL—the national e-sports team of the Philippines.

Joebert Yu, managing partner of Gariath Concepts, recalled the humble beginnings of ESGS and emphasized the importance of brand partners that participate every year.

“ESGS started in 2014. I can still remember two halls and we only have purely local companies. As the years go by, wors spread out and people get to know more about this event. I’m always very thankful. Without the brands that participated here, ESGS would not be as this big,” Yu said.

MSI will have a brand showcase on the 3rd day of ESGS

Aside from gaming hardware, game publishers will also be part of ESGS, including Capcom, Ranida Games, Gumi, Boomzap, Ourpalm/GameNoiw, Kojima Productions, and Nintendo Switch (by Maxsoft). This will be the first time that Nintendo will participate in a gaming convention in Southeast Asia.

Attendees can also try out games made by independent producers and get the chance to meet the amazing developers behind these games at Indie Fiesta.

Gamers will surely be hyped to know that aside from Cyber City, there is also the Mountain Dew Fighting Game Arena and the Mobile E-sports Arena for all kinds of gaming experience.

Additionally, you can watch SIBOL show their skills at a series of exhibition matches on the main stage for the entire weekend. If that’s not enough, teams from The Nationals will also make an appearance on various booths and activities.

One of the most famous gaming computer brands, Acer Predator will also be at the event

As usual, merchandise will be available at the event ranging from gaming gear, toys, tabletop games, and collectibles among others.

Artists and enthusiasts can also celebrate the gaming fandom at the Artist Alley or by joining the Cosplay Competition organized by Anime Alliance.

Despite how big ESGS 2019 is looking, Gariath Concepts is still envisioning an even bigger ESGS in the future by trying to go on the regional scale and in a huge leap of faith—international.

“Maybe we can be the biggest in Southeast Asia or the Asia Pacific or Asia?” Yu quipped.
