The Lenten Season is one of the most important holidays in the Catholic tradition. It’s a time of prayer and reflection as much as it is a time of abstinence and fasting—two of the usual practices that most Catholics follow and observe during this season.
Catholics, usually from age 14, with the exception of senior citizens and those with illnesses, fast and abstain as a form of sacrifice in this 40-day period. Thus, you’ll often see Catholics who lessen their intake of food, particularly meat, if not, no meat at all. For this reason, some restaurants in the Philippines offer menus exclusively for the Lenten season.
Here are some of the restaurants that offer Lenten specials:
Kitsho

Kitsho offers dishes that give a nod to the Lenten season with seafood options in their a la carte and buffet menus this April. You can enjoy their lunch buffet that comes complete with unlimited iced tea and their dinner buffet that has one round of red or white wine or beer. You can also enjoy their set meal option that’s composed of miso soup, green salad, rice, a main course of either white fish or shrimp, and pumpkin carrot jello bars for dessert.

Chesa Bianca Swiss Restaurant

Chesa Bianca Swiss Restaurant offers seafood delights for its Lenten menu, boasting dishes with shrimps and halibut, among others. You’ll find that Chesa Bianca’s offerings this season are healthy and delicious. Their Lenten menu is available from April 8 to 20, 2019. Satisfy your seafood cravings at Tapella Tapas Bar and Restaurant this Lent. Guests can enjoy a meat-free menu at Tapella with their Lapu-Lapu and Seafood Paella. If you’re up North, head on to Cravings in Katipunan. They offer healthy options with their soup and salad bar that features their signature home-style cooking. They offer a cornucopia of salads including the Grilled Vegetable Salad, Tuscan Panzanella Salad, and the Tuna Nicoise Salad, among others. Soup and Salad Buffet costs Php 299. It can also be availed by purchasing any Cravings main dish.
Santis Deli-Cafe
South folks, here’s a treat for you! SANTIS Deli-Cafe in Silang has prepared a plethora of dishes that you can enjoy during the Lenten season. Scallops, salmons, and prawns make the headline at the Deli-Cafe and you surely wouldn’t want to miss out on their Lenten treats! This is surely one of the restaurants that you would want to visit when you’re at the South! Do take note though that they will be closed on Good Friday but will be opened on Maundy Thursday, Black Saturday and Easter Sunday.
