  • The weather was bleak and the traffic was horrible last Friday, August 10, 2018, but that didn’t stop intrepid travelers and wanderlusts from trooping to Commune Café + Bar for the Tripkada Travel Meet-Up.

For its second anniversary, Tripkada organized a travel meet-up with the theme: Palaro, reminiscent of Filipino parlor and fiesta games. To get everyone in the mood, participants were randomly selected to greet Tripkada. The goal was simple: Whoever can say “Happy Birthday, Tripkada” the longest wins. Up for grabs was a protective case from Otterbox.

    Happy birthday, Tripkada!

Now that everyone was ready to play, attendees were grouped into four. Each group was given a few minutes to work on a cheer. The best cheer would receive a prize later in the night.

The next game to be played was Pera o Bayong, a staple of Filipino game shows. While the locals laughed after the game was announced, the foreigners who attended had perplexed looks on their faces. After that, there was the Egg Toss. Making the game especially difficult was the cramped space available for playing. It was a good thing the eggs were hard-boiled, otherwise, it would have made a monster of a mess.

There was a short break after the three games. Everyone there took the time to mingle, get some booze courtesy of Tanduay, and of course, eat a Filipino party staple, lechon from Lydia’s Lechon. The games lasted well into the night, with everyone clamoring to get great prizes provided by Tripkada’s partners.
