  • What To Expect in IFEX Philippines: NXTFOOD Asia This May 24-26
  • If you thought that Filipino products such as coconut, banana, mango, pineapple, coffee beans, cacao, and tune have reached its best state as an export commodity, better think again because there is more to it than being the country’s top food exports.

Guests and media were brought in a delectable 12-course gustatory journey into the islands of the Philippines as Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) together with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Department of Agriculture (DA) hosted Merienda Cena, an exclusive media preview of IFEX Philippines NXTFOOD Asia 2019 last May 16.

Dubbed as the country’s biggest and most respected business-to-business (B2B) event for Asian food and ingredients, this year’s IFEX Philippines will showcase Asian food featuring the latest food innovations, trends and best practices in the food industry with the participation of Asian food manufacturers, experts, culinary masters, enthusiasts and other stakeholders in the food world.

The new much-awaited exhibit called ‘IFEX Degustacion: Islands on a Plate’ will also make a premier in the 13th edition of the trade event. The degustation menu will feature the country’s ‘Premium 7’—namely coffee, cacao, coconut, mango, pineapple, banana, and tuna— which are sourced from the central and southern Philippines to be incorporated in every dish and delicacy possible.

According to DTI-CITEM Executive Director Pauline Suaco-Juan, IFEX Philippines NXTFOOD Asia seeks to answer the question “What’s NXT in the world of FOOD?” by giving exhibitors from the Philippines and beyond a platform to showcase premium food exports, emerging trends, best practices and industry innovations to the world’s biggest buyers.

With the help of Via Mare’s Chef Bea Nitard’s culinary expertise, 12 uniquely-made degustation dishes were served to guests which showcase each of the Premium 7 ingredients. “To further highlight the Premium 7 and the Rising Food Stars, IFEX Philippines is gearing up for a delectable and sumptuous culinary showcase of the promising export products in the country as it sets the stage for the future of food in Asia,” said DTI-CITEM Executive Director Pauline Suaco-Juan.
