  • Executives from top companies and corporations around the world gathered for the CEO Summit Manila 2019 last May 29 and 30 at Shangri-La at the Fort in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig.  

    The prestige two-day conference laid out a five-point agenda: leadership legacy & strategy, value chain, risk & crisis, government regulatory, and mergers & acquisitions.

    It aimed to develop leaders that are not only principled but are also innovative enough to be able to adapt to changes brought upon by society and continuous technological advances.

    The CEO Summit was divided into two parts. The first day was dedicated to a whole day’s worth of conference spearheaded by esteemed top executives in and out of the country, while the second day was dedicated to the CEO Masterclass, administered by some experts from leading industries.  

    Hon. Bong Suntay, who also serves to be the President & CEO of Clean Fuel & Basic Taxi, opened the first day of the summit.

    The newly-elected Congressman of the Fourth District of Quezon City shared the journey of the small company he established in law school and how it later on expanded to be one of the fastest growing in the Philippines.  

    Managing Director of Getgood Consulting Australia Jamie Getgood, on the other hand, delved into delivering leadership from the closure of an industry, specifically focusing on Australia’s iconic brand Holden.

    Getgood emphasized how trust and communication changed the dynamics within their company during challenging times. He said that they started to earn the trust of their people when they started trusting them by telling them everything that was happening.

    “We started focusing on why instead of how. So, when you tell someone how to do the job, you tell them the why,” the Managing Director added.  

    The summit also invited top female executives like Nikki Tang, CEO of Dmark Group of Companies & Dermasia Corporation.

    For her talk, Tang focused on the power to create which has three leadership mandates: the power to create meaningful connections with customers, the power to create better communications and better society, and the power to create leaders who inspire others.

    Aside from the aforementioned speakers, the conference featured more executives who served as keynote speakers and panelists. Experts from leading industries also spearheaded the more in-depth discussions during the CEO Masterclass on the second day.

    The CEO Summit Manila 2019 was organized by the ASEAN HR, an organization dedicated to HR leaders, entrepreneurs, partners, and associates, among others.
