Canon Launches Its All-New EOS R System
Canon’s newest addition to its continuing EOS System is a must-have gear in your kit.
The new EOS R System
A new era of photography and creativity begins as the global imaging leader, Canon, launches its all-new Canon EOS R Sytem—presenting the brand’s first 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor mirrorless interchangeable-lens digital camera, new RF lenses, and RF mount adapters.

Introducing the EOS R
EOS R Body
To boost user’s optical experience, the EOS R features an electronic viewfinder that will set the bar of photography to a more impressive level. It has the innovative RF mount with a large 54mm diameter, short flange focal distance of 20mm, and a robust 12-pin connection. This new RF mount provides an enhanced high-speed data processing between the lens and the body, enables incredibly fast Auto Focus, and elevates image stabilization and optimization.
Moreover, the EOS R has a focusing speed of 0.05 seconds, a full-frame Dual Pixel CMOS AF sensor that features 5,655 manually selectable AF points, and ISO sensitivity range of 100-40,000 for stills and 100-25,600 for video. This allows shooting in low-light scenes more achievable, delivering an image quality at 30.3 megapixels.
Also, the Auto Lighting Optimizer of the new EOS R, driven by the latest DIGIC 8 imaging processor, applies gradient to deliver intricate details in highlights and shadows for a well-balanced image, which is conducive in taking portraits specifically.
The RF Lenses
RF28-70mm f/2L USM, RF50mm f/1.2L USM, RF24-105mm f/4L IS USM, RF35mm f/1.8 MACRO IS STM
Alongside the introduction of the new EOS R is the reveal of the RF lenses: RF24-105mm f/4L IS USM; RF50mm f/1.2L USM; RF28-70mm f/2L USM; and RF35mm f/1.8 MACRO IS STM, all represent a new frontier in lens design for mirrorless cameras.
The RF lenses incorporate a control ring, allowing users to directly adjust numerous settings such as the shutter speed, the aperture, and the exposure compensation. The fully customizable control ring gives the users unparalleled flexibility in customizing their workflow and shooting style.
The Mount Adapters
Drop-in Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R, Control Ring Mount Adapter EF-EOS R, Mount Adapter EF-EOS R
With the three optional mount adapters—Mount Adapter EF-EOS R, Control Ring Mount Adapter EF-EOS R, and Drop-in Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R—users can still use their EF and EF-S lenses to the EOS R system. These adapters, maintaining complete compatibility with the system, are also users should embrace.
