This is welcome news for Filipinos looking to visit Japan for vacation or to see family members, as Jetstar will be offering the lowest fares possible year-round. The new routes are also expected to be popular with Japanese travellers and Filipino expatriates residing in Japan.

According to Kataoka, “Since 2004, Jetstar has built our reputation for providing low fares and making travel more affordable. We hold true to that commitment and this is what we are bringing with us with this latest international offering.”

“Jetstar (Asia) has been operating flights from the Philippines since April 2005 and these new services between Japan and Manila will build on Jetstar’s success of these flights,” Kataoka added.

He also cited how Japan is fast becoming a popular destination for Filipino travellers. “We want to support this by making travel more accessible with our everyday low fares. From the three major cities of Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya, Filipinos can explore other parts of Japan, connected by Jetstar Japan’s extensive domestic network.”

Apart from Filipino travellers, Kataoka also sees these new routes supporting the increasing number of Japanese tourists visiting the Philippines. “It is a popular year-round destination with its wide selection of shopping, beaches, leisure activities, as well as its vibrant arts and entertainment scene.”

Jetstar Japan currently has 100 flights a day flying to 11 domestic destinations in Japan as well as flights to Hong Kong and Taipei. Manila will be the third international destination added to their roster after Hong Kong and Taipei were added in 2015.

The new routes will make use of Jetstar Japan’s 180-seat Airbus A320.
