  • Art Exhibit “Kintsukuroi // Embracing Damage” opens Jan. 14
  • “Kintsukuroi,” also known as Kintsugi, is the art of mending broken pottery through gold. This art form is a direct offshoot of the Japanese philosophy of Wabi sabi and within this art form, flaws are not disguised, they are celebrated.

In 2014, Isobel Francisco and Tokwa Peñaflorida held a two-man show entitled “Kintsukuroi.” The exhibit began following a meeting between the two friends who had come to realize that their individual styles have a distinctive way of revealing damage in the human psyche.

Today, the exhibit has not only been resurrected, it has evolved into a traveling show which features both of its original founders as well as AK Ocol, who offers a refreshing take on the subject manner.

“Kintsukuroi // Embracing Damage” is set to be unveiled to the public on Saturday, January 14 at 8:00 pm at Pineapple Lab. The works will be on display until January 25 at Pineapple Lab. The show features the stunning visual dialogue between the three artists who have created a show that provides a compelling commentary on the scars that make us beautiful.

Pineapple Lab is honored to host these 3 brilliant young artists, and thrilled to invite you to our opening! Drinks and refreshments will be served.
