“This airport will be one of the Philippines’ gateway to Asia,” Mayor Byron added.

According to DOTr, the airport expansion project costs $102.56 million while its design and build contract, awarded to Korean group Kumho Industrial Co. Ltd.- Engineering and Construction joint and venture was worth $82.9 million.

According to tourism officer Toto Alvior, it is projected to reach 1.3 million tourist arrivals in 2017 alone.

This project will make Palawan more accessible to locals and tourists. Now, there’s more ways of reaching and visiting the best beaches in the region with the modern and first-class international airport in Puerto Princesa to open next year.
