The rehab center is built with the help of China and the donation of Chinese businessman, Huang Rulun. A total of 10,000-bed facility is available in the building which is divided into right and left wing dormitories.

The construction is said to be almost half complete, according to Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial, with the right wing already set to be furnished, while the left wing and female dormitory still ongoing.

2, 500 beds will be delivered this Saturday, October 15, while the rest of 7,500 beds will be completed next month.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte had previously thanked China for offering to build a rehab center in the Philippines. This development is in line with the president’s “war on drugs” campaign.

Having this rehab center is a good start in helping drug dependents break free from addiction. According to the Department of Health, the goal is to establish two mega rehab centers in Luzon and one each in Visayas and Mindanao.
