Number of cases
The Department of Health (DOH) has reported 119 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, raising the total number to 4,195.

16 new recoveries and 18 additional mortalities were also recorded resulting in a total of 140 recoveries and 221 mortalities.
Coast Guard implements “No-Sail Policy”
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) announced that starting today a “No-Sail Policy” will be implemented in Visayas. The suspension of sea travel and sea activities is a preventive measure to help stop the further spread of COVID-19.

The policy, however, still allows cargo vessels, fishing boats, tugboats, and government vessels to sail provided that the people on board are subject to stringent health protocols.
Deployment of health workers abroad suspended
The Philippines has suspended the deployment of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals abroad to prioritize the frontline against the pandemic. The suspension began to take effect on April 2, said Brigido Dulay, the Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Concerns.

The deployment ban covers the following professions:
- Medical Doctors/Physicians
- Nurses
- Microbiologists
- Molecular Biologists
- Medical Technologists
- Clinic Analysists
- Respiratory Therapists
- Pharmacists
- Laboratory Technicians
- X-ray/ radiologic Technicians
- Nursing Assistants/Nursing aids
- Operator of medical equipment
- Supervisor of health services and personal care
- Repairman of medical-hospital equipment
Baguio records new case of COVID-19 after two weeks
After nearly two weeks of no new recorded cases of COVID-19, Baguio City revealed that they have recorded its “first” COVID-19 case today. The city said that they are now conducting tracing operations to find those who might have come in contact with the patient.
As of writing, Baguio City has 15 cases of COVID-19 with one mortality.
