  • The Japanese Government Tourism Board celebrates the opening of their first-ever Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) office in Manila, Philippines with their Japanese ambassadors last October 17, 2018

    The Japan National Tourism Organization is a Japan tourism project that includes a website and an office that operates as a guide and provides attractions and information you need to know about Japan.

    Last October 17, 2018, the JNTO Manila office officially opened and Mr. Daisuke Tonai, Executive Director of the JNTO Manila Office, Ms. Merlita Losegro Teng, Officer of the Philippine Travel Agencies Association, Mr. Satoshi Seino, President of the JNTO, Mr. Katsuyuki Kawai, Special Advisor for Foreign Affairs to President Shinzo Abe of the Liberal Democratic Party, a member of House of Representative, Mr. Carlos Dominguez, Secretary of the Department of Finance of the Philipines, Mr. Koji Haneda, Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines, Ms. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, Secretary of Tourism to the Philippines, and Mr. Hiroshi Tabata, Commissioner of Japan Tourism Agency.

    With a record number of 28.69 million visitors to Japan from overseas in 2017, the JNTO project aims to achieve the government goal of 40 million visits by 2020 which is the Olympic year.

    In the record, the Philippines has the highest record of the number of visitors to Japan every year since it was positioned as a priority market of the Visit Japan Tourism Promotion Project in 2012. With over 424,121 tourists, the growth has increased by 21.9% attracting more attention overseas.

    With the opening of JNTO office in the Philippines, they see this project as an opportunity to further strengthen the Visit Japan promotion.
