  • Washington Sycip has passed away at age 96, while aboard a flight heading to Vancouver Airport in Canada.

    In a post by SGV & Co. on its Facebook page, it announced that “the family requests for some private time at this moment.” Information on memorial services will be announced on a later date.

    As the founder of the biggest accounting firm in the Philippines, Sycip has created a name for himself by receiving awards for his many contributions in the Philippine business scene. He received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for International Understanding in 1992, wherein he was recognized for “fostering economic growth and mutual understanding in Asia through professionalism, public-spirited enterprise, and his own esteemed example.”

    Aside from SGV, Washington Sycip is also the founder of Asia Institute of Management, an international management school based in Makati.
