LTO to introduce online registration for cars and driver’s licenses
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is set to take a step in modernizing their agency by enhancing their Information Technology (IT) system to make online transactions, like vehicle registration and driver’s license applications, possible.
LTO chief Edgar Galvante said in a statement that the enhancement of their IT system will improve their services, promote transparency, prevent corruption, and allow drivers and car owners to transact with the agency from the comfort of their own home.
Galvante said the idea has been around for a while, and that they’ve been working to turn it to reality.
“We are gearing towards online registration of driver’s license application and car registration. We need a credible IT to be able to enforce that,” he emphasized.
Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade has previously expressed his support towards putting driver’s license applications online.
