  • Anthony Bourdain told in a recent interview that Filipino dish sisig will “win the hearts and minds of the world.”

The American chef, author, and television personality have visited and featured the Philippines several time. Perhaps, a lot of people know him by his show No Reservations or Parts Unknown. During the World Street Food Congress held last May 31 to June 4 at SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds, he was able to taste our local dishes by different chefs such as lechon and other more dished but what made an impact to him is our sisig. If you’re wondering what is a sisig, it’s a local dish made from parts of pig’s head and liver, usually seasoned with calamansi, salt, chili peppers, and other spices.

“I think it’s the most likely to convince people abroad who have had no exposure to Filipino food to maybe look further and investigate further beyond sisig. I think that’s the one that’s gonna hook them,” added Bourdain.

We can only hope that he’ll soon add more dishes to his favorite things in the Philippines.
