Young Filipino artists participate in international art event Venice Art Biennale
Two young Filipino artists namely Issay Rodriguez and Katherine Nuñez were personally handpicked by biennale director Christine Macel for the prestigious international art event named the Venice Art Biennale.

The Venice Art Biennale is an Italy-based arts organization and contemporary visual art exhibition held every two years. For their 57th International Art Exhibition happening on May 13 to November 26, 2017, entitled “Viva Arte Viva,” 120 invited artists from 51 countries participated in this huge art event.
As part of these 120 artists, Rodriguez and Nuñez were picked by Macel when the latter saw their works at the 2016 Art Dubai.

Their work, which is part of the main exhibit, is called “In Between the Lines, 2.0” an installation art made of crocheted items such as pens, papers, and other school supplies. This piece, as per CNN Philippines’ report, is included in the “Pavilion of Artists and Books,” one of the paths created by Macel celebrating the theme of this year’s event. According to the report, the piece is an “approximation of the artists’ experience within the criticality of production and demand in the Philippine Education system.”
Aside from Rodriguez and Nuñez, three other Filipino artists participate in this year’s Venice Biennale. The exhibit lasts until November 26, 2017.
