In an advisory to media, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said this was done upon the request of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

According to the PNP, they are preparing for a possible retaliation from the terror group, since their ISIS leader, Jaafar Maguid was killed during an operation. Since it is through network signals that could detonate a homemade bomb, it is the best decision to implement shutting down the network signals.

The Arm Forces of the Philippines (AFP) also banned Drones, as part of a strict implementation of a no-fly zone in areas where the parade will pass through. Also, police are imposing a 48-hour gun ban in the city of Manila, before, during, and after the feast.

Smart Communications will restore mobile phone services as soon as they are given the go-signal by the authorities.
