According to  PAGASA, the low pressure area was located 1,800 kilometers east of Mindanao as of Wednesday. When developed into a tropical depression, it is to be called “Nina,” the 14th tropical cyclone to enter the Philippines this year. It is expected to make landfall in the Bicol Region, Samar, or the Quezon Province either on December 24 or 25.

It is expected to bring rain in eastern and southern Luzon, as well as in the eastern Visayas, Bicol, Samar, and Quezon.  The bureau also added that Metro Manila might experience light to moderate rain as it enhances the northeast monsoon or Amihan.

Nina, when developed, could reach maximum strength at Signal Number 2, and is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Monday.

PAGASA advised the people to remain alert as, according to PAGASA Administrator Vincent Milano said, “This weather disturbance Nina will be having Noche Buena with us.”
