Facebook has partnered with Nat Geo, and announced last Monday that they will release a 360-degree live video feature, called ‘Live 360’ to level-up the live-streaming experience. Facebook user/viewers will now be able to look up, down and around the video.
In an article published by Inquirer.net, according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg, he sees the format as the future of his company and that they are entering the golden age.
Aside from viewing Facebook’s latest feature, viewers will also witness space scientists simulate life from Mars—including complete isolation from humanity—as they prepare for their journey to the Red Planet. National Geographic will be live on Facebook in 360 degrees as the scientists emerge from the pods and explore the living quarters.
For now, live 360-degree videos can only be streamed by publishers and is not yet opened to all 1.8 billion Facebook users. The social network plans on releasing ‘Live 360’ to all Pages and users on their platform in a few months, as the company awaits user response.
