VIU hopes to grow its four-million strong active user base in the Philippines, where up to 70 percent of the streaming market consumes Korean content, said Janice Lee, managing director at VIU parent PCCI Media Group.

“We feel it’s a very ripe market for us to come into and offer more diverse content to the audience of the Philippines,” said Lee during interview with ANC.

According to Lee, content on VIU are available to stream with subtitles in as fast as four hours after they air.
VIU is the first convenient Asian video-streaming service in the country that showcases 10,000 content hours of entertainment from Korea’s “Big 4″ TV stations–Seoul Broadcasting System, Korea Broadcasting System, Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation, and CJ E&M.
