  • Travel PH Web App Launched to Keep Tourists Updated on Open Destinations
  • As more travel destinations in the country reopen under general community quarantine, the Department of Tourism (DOT) recently launched the new Travel Philippines web application that will help tourists be updated on the status of destinations that recently reopened in the country.

A one digital stop when planning leisure trips under the “new normal”, the Travel PH app is an easy-to-use platform that allows users to create their own itineraries, find the latest information on their favorite tourist attractions, and securely store digital copies of travel documents.

During the launch, Travel PH featured six major tourist destinations, namely Palawan, Boracay, Bohol, Baguio, Ilocos Norte, and Metro Manila. It will be showing regularly updated information on the said locations as well as more travel destinations around the Philippines.

“As we continue to reopen the country’s tourism destinations, Travel Philippines timely serves as every tourist’s official guide to safe and fun travel,” DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said in a virtual conference last October 30.

“With the ever-changing needs and challenges in travel brought about by the pandemic, Travel Philippines will help both domestic and international tourists have safer and more memorable travel experiences amid our new normal,” she added.

Moreover, Travel PH will also update the latest health and safety protocols being implemented within the featured locations, sourced directly from their local tourism offices.

Users can save or bookmark the locations they read within the platform and upload digital copies of pertinent documents such as boarding passes, hotel reservations, and medical certificates into their personal Travel PH account.

With its encrypted platform, the app offers users a go-to folder where one can store all of their documents and forms and access it even if their device does not have an internet connection.

DOT and its marketing arm Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) developed the application in partnership with inclusion tech venture builder HIMO Global Inc.

“Travel Philippines marks DOT’s continued push to breathe new life into the severely affected tourism industry by promoting safe and responsible travel. We look forward to seeing both domestic and international tourists use Travel Philippines in their future trips,” Romulo said.
