PRRD Extends GCQ in Metro Manila and Other Areas Until June 30
President Rodrigo Duterte approved the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases’ (IATF) recommendation to extend the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) classification in Metro Manila and other areas starting June 16 to June 30, 2020.
The IATF’s recommendation stated in Resolution No. 46-A explained that the basis to relax, retain or tighten the quarantine classifications is the doubling rate of COVID-19 infections as well as the capacity of critical health care.

Cebu City, however, was reverted back to Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) until the end of the month due to the surge of COVID-19 positive cases in the province.
In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that the widespread community transmission and the increasing number of new cases in Cebu City’s barangays are the reasons cited why the said city is back to ECQ. Moreover, the city of Talisay in Cebu was put under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ).
As of June 16, there are a total number of 26,781 confirmed cases, with 6,552 recoveries and 1,103 mortalities.
