  • MMDA To Fine Motorists Who Violate ECQ Guidelines
  • It’s been a month since the entire Luzon was placed in Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). With that, “Stay at home” has been the golden rule in a belief that it would be the very foundation of safety. Though it seems to be an effective measure from the national government, some people would still go out for a reason that could be either an invalid or a valid one.

If you’re one of those who go out with an invalid reason, you might as well want to think twice because this time, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will have to make you pay for violating the ECQ guidelines.

According to MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialgo, all motorists who fail to follow the ECQ guidelines set by the authorities will face respective fines. Given that there is already a limit to how many people a car can carry during ECQ, people who will be caught not following the social distancing measure inside their car will be fined up to Php 5,000.

Further, people who are not one of the Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APOR) that will be caught driving out will be fined Php 1,000 by the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG).

The said fine also comes with the confiscation of driver’s license and will be issued a Temporary Operators’ Permit of Land Transportation Office for disobedience.
