  • The Japan Foundation Manila (JFM) opened up a Japanese online learning site for self-study courses on Japanese Language and culture. On the JF Japanese e-Learning みなと, students can sign up to access online study courses and more!

    The website is created by the Japan Foundation Kansai Center to offer a variety of online self-study courses on the Japanese language and culture for beginners and intermediate learners. Students simply need to sign up to access the courses.

    Through their Facebook page, JFM has shared multiple online resources to further aid Nihongo students with free online learning materials such as the Hiragana/Katakana Memory Hint which are a set of mobile applications providing flashcards and memory hints in multiple languages.

    Available in English, Indonesian, and Thai, the application feature memory hints, quiz, and hiragana/ katakana table right on your mobile.

    For Nihongo students looking to practice their basic communication skills, the IRODORI Official Website can help build language for speaking and interacting through an online textbook. The textbook is great for students learning Elementary-level (A2) Japanese.

    Since JFM announced that the July Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) in the Philippines has been canceled, they have also shared helpful resources for free until June 30, 2020 including the Japan Foundation Marugoto Books by the Sanshusha Publishing Company.

    Learners can avail of the following levels:

    1. Marugoto Starter A1 Katsudoo and Rikai (Coursebook for Communicative Language Activities and Competences)
    2. Marugoto Elementary 1 A2 Katsudoo and Rikai (Coursebook for Communicative Language Activities and Competences)
    3. Marugoto Elementary 2 A2 Katsudoo and Rikai (Coursebook for Communicative Language Activities and Competences)
    4. Marugoto Pre-intermediate A2/B1

    The books are also available in hard copy through Abiva Publishing House for the Marugoto Starter A1 Katsudoo and Rikai (Coursebook for Communicative Language Activities and Competences).

    Lately, JFM shared KCよむよむ (Yomuyomu), a website offering a variety of Japanese short stories to read for free for Marugoto Starter A1 for beginners, Marugoto A2 for elementary-level learners, and Marugoto A2/B1 for pre-intermediate level learners.
