UP Dentist Association Is Giving Free Dental Advice Amid ECQ
The UP Dental Alumni Association (UPDAA), through the Facebook group, connects concerned patients with UP dentists who are willing to offer free expert advice daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. They also remind all to visit their respective dentists as soon as possible when quarantine ends.

UPDAA advises those who will be sending their queries to the group to be honest with their assigned dentists to aid in the diagnosis of the dental problem. Consultations will be available in both English and Tagalog, otherwise, Filipino dialect will be translated.
You may join the public group, UP Dentista para sa Bayan on Facebook.
Guidelines
1. The page primarily functions as a platform to answer queries on dental problems in these times when there is no means to actually see a dentist for a physical consultation. Actual physical appearance through clinical consult is still preferred once the ECQ is lifted.
2. All doctors are volunteers and qualified licensed dentists who are all Alumni of the UP College of Dentistry.
3. All dental consultation services are free and no monetary fees or payments are asked of or received by both the patient and the dentist. No discussions of the cost of treatment or dental nor professional fees will be entertained.
4. In the absence of no actual physical check-up, the patient is expected to tell the whole truth to aid in the diagnosis of his problem through pictures and visuals for an accurate diagnosis. These may be sent through a private message to the Doctor on Deck. On the other hand, the doctor may also limit his answers to emergency relief and solutions like home care and palliative treatment.
5. Consultation may be written in any Filipino dialect but preferably English or Tagalog for ease of response. The association will try their best to translate the Philippine dialect in Tagalog or Filipino to their doctors.
6. The page will only be up for as long as regular visits to dentists and their clinics cannot be done during the period of the ECQ.
7. No endorsement, product promotion, or marketing of materials or dental drugs is allowed on this platform.
8. As this is a public platform, any information shared may be viewed by members of the group. It is encouraged that sensitive information be shared by direct message.
9. There shall be no other modes of communication between the doctor and patient apart from this platform and its messenger account.
10. The rights to data privacy of both the dentist and patient will be strictly enforced for consult via private message. However, rights to data privacy are waived for consultation on the main page. UPDAA assures it will protect the privacy of the patient and all information given and gathered on the messenger account of the page will not be used for other purposes without the patient’s prior consent given electronically or in writing.
11. Given that there is no pre-existing doctor-patient relationship and no physical consultation that can provide sufficient information for the doctor to make a verifiable diagnosis and consent to provide treatment, the doctors cannot be held liable in any way for any untoward events that may result from advice dispensed.
