  • To keep you in the loop on the recent COVID-19 situation in the Philippines, Philippine Primer rounded up the latest updates you need to know:

    Number of cases

    As of 4 p.m. today, the Department of Health (DOH) has reported 76 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, raising the total number to 3,094.

    DOH also reported 5 additional recoveries and new mortalities resulting in a total of 57 recoveries and 144 mortalities.

    Quezon City COVID-19 cases rise to 476

    The Quezon City Government, with a confirmation from the Department of Health (DOH), shared on Facebook that the total number of COVID-19 cases in the city is now 476.

    In relation to this, as of April 3, 11 p.m., 324 of 476 are a DOH confirmed cases with a complete address in Quezon City, while 188 of the total number of cases were already validated by the QC Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit.

    Further, the total number of patients under investigation (PUIs) in the city is now at 93 while the patients under monitoring (PUMs) is 420. Quezon City have also recorded 14 recoveries and 34 mortalities.

    Dagupan City’s modular tents as isolation areas

    As a preparation in a possibility that the city will require more isolation areas, Dagupan City have installed several modular tents in their astrodome yesterday, April 3. These modular tents were donated by Ralph Du and will be used for the PUIs of the city.

    As of April 3, there were only 10 PUIs admitted in different hopitals in the city. Meanwhile, the Dagupan Electric Corporation (Decorp) donated 500 bags of 5kg of rice to the city government on as an assistance to the ongoing relief operations in the city’s 31 barangays.

    Oriental Mindoro is now COVID-19 free

    With huge gratitude, Oriental Mindoro Governor Bonz Dolor have shared on a Facebook post that the first case in the province of Oriental Mindoro have fully recovered.

    As part of the good news, too for all Mindoreños, the 57-year old doctor who accommodated the baby have also tested negative making Oriental Mindoro COVID-19 free.

    Benguet’s youngest case have recovered 

    In a report from ABS-CBN, a six-year old girl from Cordillera is one of the four recoveries in the region which was confirmed the Department of Health (DOH). Meanwhile, 12 other cases in Cordillera are now in a stable condition.

    The Baguio City’s Health Services Office said that there are no new cases have been reported despite the increase in testing capacity of the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center’s (BGHMC).

    No new cases in Bicol  

    As of April 3, 5 p.m., no new cases were recorded in the region of Bicol. A number of eight out of 11 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 in the Bicol Region have already recovered.

    For additional update, 73 persons under investigation (PUIs) tested negative while seven PUIs are waiting for results from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).

    Quezon City’s financial assistance to jeepney, tricycle, and pedicab drivers

    To give financial assistance, the city of Quezon will be launching the “Kalingang QC“. This program will be assisting all the public utility jeepney, tricycle, and pedicab drivers in the city who were badly affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

    The said program will be giving Php 2,000 cash assistance to all drivers in the city.

    Cabinet members to donate 75% of their monthly pay to help in COVID-19 crisis

    In an announcement from the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID), most of the cabinet members have volunteered to take monthly pay cuts. According to CNN Philippine’s report, this is to help the government in the COVID-19 outbreak.

    Further, some of the top officials in the executive branch will give 75% of their monthly salary until December this year.
