Donate to COVID-19 Frontliners Through These Mobile Applications

With the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in the Philippines, one of the most vulnerable sectors of society is the medical workforce whose members are standing on the front line of this pandemic.

Reports of depleting supplies of personal protective equipment (PPEs) as well as hospitals reaching full capacity are circulating in the news and online. Moreover, the number of mortalities among medical frontliners also adds up each day.

In your own small way, you can help bring up morale and cheer on these hardworking people. Philippine Primer has listed mobile applications that let you directly donate to frontliners without having the need to go outside.

GCash

GCash is a helpful mobile application for hassle-free money transactions and payment of bills. They have recently launched  #FightCOVID19 campaign, a digital donation drive for frontline health workers and hospitals in relation to COVID-19.

Here is how you can donate:

• Tap ‘Pay Bills’ on the GCash dashboard
• Select ‘Others’ > ‘FightCOVID19
• Fill in name and amount, then tap ‘Confirm

Proceeds of the campaign will be equally divided among GCash’s organization partners, namely: the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF), the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), World Vision, UP Medical Foundation, PGH Foundation, Inc., ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, and Ayala Foundation. 

Globe Rewards

Now is the best time to put your Globe Rewards points to good use! Aside from extending the validity of points earned in 2019, Globe also lets you donate your points to PGH Medical Foundation, Inc. to provide PPEs to medical frontliners.

To donate:

• Register your Globe number on the Globe Rewards app
• In the app, tap ‘All Rewards’ > ‘Donate’
• Select PGH Medical Foundation and choose between 10 points or 50 points
• Tap ‘Redeem’ > ‘Confirm’

Lazada

Your favorite online shopping app Lazada is also one with the cause to help our frontliners as well as the less fortunate.

Through Lazada For Good, you can donate to different organizations including Philippine Red Cross, Caritas Manila, UNICEF Philippines, Kaya Natin, 2KK Tulong sa Kapwa Kapatid, and Virlanie Foundation, Inc.

Here are five simple steps to donate:

• In the Lazada app, tap ‘Load, Bills, & ECoupon’
• Click ‘Donation’
• Choose an advocacy partner
• Pick your donation
• Tap ‘Buy Now’ and donate

Shopee

Donate to Shopee Bayanihan’s partner organizations through the Shopee app and help supply more PPEs to our frontiers, fund for testing kits, and support low-income earners.

To donate:

• In the Shopee app, select which partner organization you’d like to donate to
• Add donation voucher (s) to your cart
• Check out and pay via credit card, Dragon Pay or ShopeePay

Grab

Since most of us can’t go outside, you are most likely not able to use your GrabRewards points as well. The good news is Grab lets you donate your points to Philippine Red Cross to aid in providing assistance to our healthcare workers!

Follow these steps to donate:

• In the Grab app, click ‘Rewards points’
• Redeem donations under GrabBayanihan

PayMaya

Donate to any of PayMaya‘s partner organizations and extend your help to the frontliners using the Pay Bills feature.

To donate:

• Open ‘Pay Bills’ in the PayMaya app
• Choose a partner organization
• Under account number, type ‘00000’
• Enter the amount you wish to donate > Continue > Pay
