In fact, dermatology is not just limited to dealing with cosmetics and other related aesthetics. This field is also concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases of the skin, hair, and nails.
With that, let’s get to know how Dr. Karla Angela C. Luchangco, MD, DPDS pursued dermatology and why this field is more than skin deep.

Dermatology
Before pursuing dermatology, Dr. Luchango wanted to be a plastic surgeon because of her interest in the aesthetic aspect of medicine. However, as she went through her medical training, she was amazed by how much can be done without having to go under the knife.
She also shares that dermatology is not only concerned with aesthetics but also treating medical diseases. Dr. Luchangco treats her patients only when necessary. If the patients won’t benefit from it, she doesn’t offer treatment even if the patient asks for it.
At present, she practices exclusively at BeautiqueMD in BGC and is a Diplomate of the Philippine Dermatological Society.
Dr. Luchangco advises those who wish to pursue medicine to never stop learning and to always pursue knowledge because the field is constantly evolving. She also stresses the importance of staying healthy—physically and mentally as doctors can only take care of their patients when they are at their best.
