  • Starbucks Philippines Temporarily Closes All Stores Amid COVID-19
  • In light of the Philippine Government’s directive regarding COVID-19, Starbucks Philippines recently announced the temporary closure of all their stores in the country—Visayas and Mindanao branches included.

With the safety and well-being of their customers and their partners (employees) in mind, Starbucks Philippines began its temporary closure on March 23 to support the government’s efforts to promote social distancing while under enhanced community quarantine.

Starbucks Philippines first paused operations in their Luzon stores on March 17 following the announcement of the Enhanced Community Quarantine.

In the statement posted on the Starbucks Philippines official website, Noey Lopez, the President of Rustan Coffee Corporation (Starbucks Philippines), extends their gratitude to those who have supported them and their employers throughout the situation.

Lopez assures that, amid the quarantine period, all their partners will be properly compensated. Starbucks partners will receive calamity pay and apart from their sick leave benefits, they will also receive additional paid leaves to help them manage the situations that the quarantine may bring.

Further, they have also extended assistance to frontliners by donating food and beverages to the medical personnel, law enforcement personnel, NGO volunteers, and organizations who have faced challenges accessing them.

Luzon was placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine in March 17, two days after the implementation of Metro Manila’s community quarantine. The lockdown is expected to end on April 12, 2020.
