What To Expect At Malasimbo Festival 2020
Never been to any Malasimbo Art and Music Festival in the past years? Well, here’s something you should expect at Malasimbo 2020!
Slated to happen on February 29 to March 1, 2020, the country’s pioneering music and arts festivals in the last decade is on a mission to continue uplifting the Filipino music and arts scene at its new home.
Malasimbo Arts and Music Festival have always been close to the ocean—in Puerto Galera. That is why when they announced that they will have a new venue for their 10th year edition, everyone just had to ask, “How would Malasimbo Festival be more close to nature?”
In a press conference that happened last January 16, the first arts and music festival in the Philippines chose La Mesa Eco Park as their new home because it is—first and foremost—close to their advocacy, which is environmental awareness.
This very idea that came from Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte was immediately acquired by Malasimbo Arts and Music Festival Founder and Director Miro Grgic.

Miro Grgic said that when he did an ocular in the targeted venue, he felt “extremely excited” to be able to have La Mesa Eco Park as Malasimbo’s new home.
He said that he has always been looking for an alternative venue closer to their primary market, which are the residents from Quezon City, Makati, The Fort, and the South area. And for him, La Mesa Eco Park is the perfect and their “dream venue”.
Aside from seeing the place as their dream venue, the Malasimbo committee feels honored to help people take a break from concrete buildings and traffic as well as feel like “life is okay”. And since only a few knew that La Mesa Eco Park exists, they also see Malasimbo 2020 a way for them to introduce the place to everyone else.
Unearthing activities for everyone
Since Malasimbo Festival has always been a sound quality conscious event, one of the good things that you can expect from here is you don’t have to worry about wearing earplugs, jam screaming, and loud talking with your friends as Malasimbo founder prioritizes the goodness of the sound rather than the volume itself.
That is why there would be both live music performances and silent disco but, each one will happen in different areas in the eco-park. The live music will be at the Amphitheater, while the latter will be held at the Drilon Orchidarium.

Of course, we are lucky enough to have the chance to try the silent disco in the Drilon Orchidarium! Each guest who wants to try the silent disco will be given individual headphones wherein at least three DJs will be playing different genres and/or songs for you to select from and to enjoy.
No need to worry about the level of volume as you will also be the one in charge of it. On the left earpiece is where you can adjust the volume, while on the right side is where you can change the genre or song playing on your headphones.
Plus, the headphones have a neon light earpiece that would light up the whole festival area during the night.

Aside from the live music and silent disco, Malasimbo 2020 also offers some other activities! There would also be an art and wellness programs at the Narra Grove Pavilion to help you explore music inspirations and its healing effects using various resonant tools and musical instruments.
During sunrise and sunset, there is going to be a meditation, yoga, and dance. Family activities will be held at the swimming pool as well as a DJ party in the middle of the rainforest. How exciting is that?

Excitement doesn’t end there as there would also be a tour in different areas in the park using green technology and solar-powered vehicles from Star 8 Green Technology Corp. And of course, what everyone is dreaming of— to meet famous artists in the music industry,
The festival will also have a music business conference at the Drilon Orchidarium where music lovers will get to exchange a conversation with the artists who will be playing for them during the two-day music and arts celebration.
Genres will revolve around the sole, jazz, funk, world music, reggae, afro, Cuban music, gypsy jazz and a whole lot more!
