  • The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is selling 10,000-Piso gold and 500-Piso silver commemorative coins in celebration of the 70th year of central banking in the country, as well as 500-Piso silver commemorative coin to mark the 25th anniversary of BSP.

70th Year of Central Banking in the Philippines Gold and Silver coins

The 10,000-Piso Gold Coin is made out of 99.6% Gold. Its front design bears the progression of the seal of the Central Bank of the Philippines to BSP, along with the mintmark and the words “70 YEARS OF CENTRAL BANKING” and its denomination.

Embossed on the coin’s opposite side are the BSP eagle and seal, the façade of the current BSP main complex with microprint, stylized sun with BSP’s core values microprinted on the outline, three stars, and its composition value of gold.

Weighing 42g, this coin is priced at Php 127,000 that comes with a serialized Certificate of Authenticity.

On the other hand, the 500-Piso Silver coin bears the BSP eagle, seal, and façade of the current BSP main complex on the front side, with the microprint of the denomination “500 PISO”.

The 99.9% Silver coin’s reverse side features the façade of the Aduana Building where the Central Bank was once housed and the progression of Central Bank of the Philippines’ seal to BSP. Completing the design are words “70 YEARS OF CENTRAL BANKING” and the mintmark.

This coin sells for Php 3,500 per piece.

25th Anniversary of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Silver Coin

For the 25th anniversary of BSP, they released a 500-Piso commemorative coin also made from 99.9% Silver. Its obverse side largely features an image of the Philippine eagle beside the new BSP Seal, year, and mintmark.

Meanwhile, the reverse side also has the new BSP Seal but mainly features the words “25 YEARS.”  Embedded on this side are micro letters of BSP’s core values:  Excellence, Patriotism, Integrity, Solidarity, and Accountability.

Same as the 70th Year of Central Banking in the Philippines Silver coin, it costs Php 3,500 per piece.

Both gold and silver coins are non-circulation legal tender.
