Siargao Among Condé Nast Traveller’s Top Holiday Destinations for 2020
Before 2019 came to a close, the Philippines received yet another international recognition from luxury travel magazine Condé Nast Traveller as Siargao was declared one of their top holiday destinations for 2020, landing at the 8th spot on the list.
Described as “the tiny Philippine island giving Bali a run for its money,” Condé Nast Traveller cited what makes the place a must-visit for local and foreign tourists starting with its “pristine beaches, tree frog-green mangrove forests and sweeping groves of coconut palms.”
Aside from the beautiful sceneries, however, the magazine also mentioned the little things that make up the charm of Siargao.
“Less than a tenth of the size of Bali, the island feels the way the Indonesian hotspot did three decades ago: scooters with surfboard racks ferry people about the streets, convenience stores pour petrol from glass Coca Cola bottles and farmers sell rice – dried on tarpaulins at the side of the main road – at the local market,” they wrote.

Originally, Siargao was really a place for surfers given its numerous spots perfect for the sport, but as the years went by, it has evolved and became a destination for appealing resorts, concept-dining restaurants, and unforgettable nightlife escapades.
With the boom of visitors and guests, flights to the island have increased from just two a week to 12 a day!
