First 10-km Laguna Portion of CALAX Opens on October 30
The first 10-km Laguna portion of Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) will officially open on October 30, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar.
Said road will start from the Mamplasan, Santa Rosa City Interchange in Laguna to the end Silang-Tagaytay City interchange in Cavite.
The newly-constructed expressway can serve up to 10,000 motorists and commuters daily, which will be a big help in reducing traffic this coming undas (All Saint’s Day).
Additionally, the final inspection of the CALAX first sections was initiated by DPWH and Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) subsidiary, MP Cala Holdings, Inc.
“Meantime, we will open CALAX to serve motorists this All Saint’s Day, we will open the entry and exit points at Mamplasan, Binan Laguna and Sta-Rosa Tagaytay Road. Approximately 10,000 cars are expected to enter and exit through these 2 access points. This section will approximately be 10 minutes to drive, a big cut on travel time compared to the 45-minutes it currently takes to travel Mamplasan to Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay Road,” Villar pointed out in a press conference.
Once the CALAX-SLEX is finished by June 2022, the travel time for motorists or commuters from Mamplasan to Kawit Cavite takes 45 minutes to an hour. It is estimated to serve up to 50,000 vehicles.
MPTC subsidiary MP Cala Holdings, Inc. President Bobby Bontia also added that the expressway is constructed to be a 4-lane, connecting CAVITEX to SLEX at their Mamplasan Interchange with interchanges in eight locations such as Kawit, Imus Open Canal, Governor’s Drive, Aguinaldo Highway, Silang, Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay, Laguna Blvd., Technopark, and a Toll Barrier before SLEX.
