Internal Medicine – Endocrinology
Dr. Joy Fontanilla is a veteran Endocrinologist who has been in the field for more than 25 years now. She was under the UP College of Medicine’s seven-year Integrated Arts and Medicine (INTRAMED) Program, which shortened her medical education by two years.
To her, being a doctor is one of the few professions where one has the opportunity to save lives every day. As an endocrinologist, she focuses largely on endocrine glands and hormones, taking on illnesses like goiter, obesity, osteoporosis, and diabetes.
When treating patients, she likes to think of herself as a compassionate detective who does everything she can to figure out what disease her patient is experiencing and help administer a cure.
Dr. Fontanilla currently serves as the Head of Center for Weight Intervention & Nutrition Services (WINS) at St. Luke’s Medical Center-Global City and Chief of Endocrinology at Asian Hospital & Medical Center.
