  • The Ergo & Wellness Conference last May 17, 2019, at the SMX Convention Center, SM Aura was the first-ever trade show to encourage ergonomics and wellness practices in the country, with the theme”For Healthier Workforce and a More Productive Philippines.”

The event featured multiple wellness zones and talks on a healthy work environment as well as wellness booths offering free activities, check-ups, and programs for event attendees.

The most prominent exhibitions inside the main hall were the different brands of office equipment that feature a fully ergonomic workstation. Their products include standing desks, office chairs, and cycling desks designed for efficiency and wellness.

Pedal exercise is a moderate-intensity workout that works best for the office worker looking for a lower-body exercise.

Products such as these adjustable standing desks were featured and sold at the event

The Ergo and Wellness Conference also included exhibitors from the Association of Professional Chiropractors of the Philippines (APCP).

According to the APCP, chiropractic is a natural healing art that aims to restore the body to its natural state through the precise manipulation of bones and muscles. It mainly focuses on realigning bones in the body which help relieve muscle and nerve pains.

Event attendees were able to check and correct their posture as well as experience a short chiropractic check-up.

The event also hosted a number of speakers to tackle topics on ergonomics and productivity, health and wellness, and therapy and healing. These were attended by many attendees from the medical community as well as higher-ups from public and private companies.

One of the talks we attended was on the topic of preventing and reversing chronic diseases through lifestyle change by Dr. Johann Kim Mañez, President and Founder of the Philippine Lifestyle Medicine

As a whole, the major takeaway from the first Ergo and Wellness Convention in the country is that the inactive desk worker could prevent and minimize an unhealthy lifestyle by following a proper ergonomic positioning and by taking care of the spine.

Stand up and take a quick 1-minute break every hour to stretch and strengthen your posture right now!

The Ergo and Wellness Show happened last May 17, 2019, at the SMX Convention Center in SM Aura.
