Simply Italian Great Wines Asia Tour 2018: A Taste of Italy’s Finest Alcohols

First the cinema, now the wineries–Italy once again brought a part of them in the Philippines, showcasing some of the country’s finest wines during the Simply Italian Great Wines Asia Tour 2018, happened last November 21 at The Peninsula Manila Hotel, Makati City.

In partnership with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines and Grandi Marchi, the event was organized by International Exhibition Management, which is known as the most active and experienced promoter of Italian wine on international markets.

Istituto del vino italiano di qualita, or Institute of Fine Italian Wines – Premium Brands, Grandi Marchi brought the nine participating wineries in the country, namely Argiolas, Carpene Malvoti, Lungarotti, Masi Agricola, Mastroberardino, Michele Chiarlo, Piocesare, Tasca d’Almerita, and Umani Ronchi. These brands were also present during their Taipei tour.

Grandi Marchi continuously supports various Italian wineries with hopes to promote and enhance the country’s finest alcohols. All of the brands under the Grandi Marchi have been operating for at least 25 years, even centuries, and they are all family-owned.

The wines assured a wonderful aroma, ranging from sweet to bitter taste. As for the alcohol content of the wines, there were low ones with 5% that are perfect for light drinking, but there were also up to 14% if you’re in for some heavy drinking.

The event started with a seminar at the Balmori room, where everyone learned all about Italy’s winemaking culture and history, and afterwards proceeded to the wine tasting at the Conservatory room at The Peninsula Manila.

Everyone was very accommodating, and they gladly answered questions about their wines.

And of course, to maximize the Italian experience, they also served pasta and pastries to complement with the rich wines!

Majority of the wines at the event are already imported in the Philippines, however, Carpene Malvolti, Lungarotti, Mastroberardino, and Tasca are yet to find a local importer.

Simply Italian Great Wines tour had been in the USA, Canada, Russia, Eastern Europe earlier this year, with Taipei, Taiwan and Manila, Philippines being their last stops before they wrap the year up.
