  • Cavitex Expansion Lane Partially Opens
  • To aid traffic congestion at the Manila-Cavite Expressway (Cavitex), a portion of the extension project spearheaded by Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) was opened on August 4, 2018.

The Php 1.1-billion project focuses on widening the road from Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) to Zapote Road, once completed, there will be four operational lanes open to motorists.

In a report, MPTC says that the flyover aims to remove the stop-and-go scheme before entering the expressway. “The main highlight of the flyover is that we have removed the stop-and-go scheme for vehicles heading northbound and southbound, especially vehicles heading Macapagal Blvd. The stoplight and the stop-and-go scheme was one of the main reasons for the heavy traffic in Cavitex,” the MPTC said in a statement.

The development of the MPTC’s expansion project is personally inspected by Public Works and Highways Sec. Mark Villar. In a report from Ronda Balita, Villar says that motorists will soon experience the full benefits of the extension once all of the lanes are already open.

“The partial opening of the flyover has made a difference in improving the flow of traffic and passage of vehicles in CAVITEX. Motorists will feel the full benefits of its ongoing enhancements once all of the lanes of this facility are opened and all the other enhancements are completed,” says Villar.

CAVITEX is part of a road network being expanded by MPTC. The road connects the 7.7-kilometer C5 Road to Southlink, which will pass by the cities of Taguig, Las Pinas, Paranaque, and the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALax).
